Meet the Baker
Hi, I’m MahKayla, the baker, decorator, and sass enthusiast behind Sprinkled with Sass. Baking has always been more than a hobby for me — it’s a way to connect with people, celebrate milestones, and bring a little happiness to everyday life.
My love for baking started early. I grew up in the kitchen with my mom and grandmother, learning the basics one recipe at a time. My mom had me flipping pancakes by the time I was five, and from there, the mixing bowls never really left my hands.
By high school, baking had moved beyond family tradition and into something more. My chemistry teacher (shoutout to Mrs. Hall!) asked me to make a cake for her daughter’s birthday. That single cake turned into many more, and before long, I was known as the girl who always had baked goods on hand — or could whip some up whenever they were needed.
Now, all these years later, that same joy of baking is what fuels Sprinkled with Sass. For me, nothing compares to the look on someone’s face when they take that first bite — the pause, the smile, the happy hum. That moment right there is why I do what I do.
The Head Taste Tester
And then there’s my husband, Max, who proudly serves as the Head Taste Tester (aka the man living every sweet tooth’s dream). His official duties? Eating cookies straight off the cooling rack, giving “quality control” nods, and reminding me that yes, another batch of buttercream is absolutely necessary. Let’s just say — he takes his role very seriously, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The Pupfessional in Training
Of course, no family business is complete without the four-legged assistant. Our dog, Arti, is our unofficial mascot, morale booster, and professional crumb catcher. He’s been lobbying hard for me to add a dog treat line to the menu (strictly for research purposes, of course). Don’t worry — while Arti is full of opinions, he’s never in the kitchen when I’m prepping, baking, or packaging. He prefers to supervise from afar — usually from his favorite sunny spot, dreaming up his next pitch for “Arti’s Approved Treats.”
